Petition raised by Scotland Against Spin to increase the ability of communities to influence planning decisions for onshore wind energy developments

Constraint payments

Increasingly more electricity is being generated in Scotland than can be used in Scotland, and the grid interconnections between Scotland and England are insufficient to take the excess electricity which is generated, thus resulting in payments being made to wind turbine developments to stop turbines. It should also be noted that not all constraint payments are in the public domain. Where a private contract has been entered into between National Grid and a turbine development this data is currently not published. So the data shown in this link is not the total amounts being paid. These constraint payments are one of the reasons behind Electricity bills in UK being so high.

The GB Renewables Map

An energy experiment by Robin Hawkes.

It's a personal project created at home in Wales with an aim to explore and visualise renewable energy systems. Specifically, it aims to visualise live generation from renewable energy systems around Great Britain and to show where that generation is physically coming from.
