Save Our Rural Environment
About
As residents of Strathaven and Avondale the continued proposal of multiple wind energy planning applications in our peaceful vicinity is unsettling. While renewable energy is rightfully encouraged, the proposed location for these wind farms could have profound implications on our landscape, local wildlife, and quality of life.
In terms of factual damage, National Wind Watch Organisation states that wind turbines generate noise pollution, harm bird populations, and can cause adverse health effects to nearby homeowners. Furthermore, Scottish Natural Heritage expresses that without proper strategic planning, these structures can cause significant landscape and visual impacts, particularly in areas of wild land.
It is undeniable that we need to consider the environmental repercussions of energy sources. Yet, it is equally essential for us to preserve our local surroundings and the communities and wildlife within it. Let's voice our concerns collectively before these plans go beyond the point of no return.
The objective is not to eradicate the concept of wind energy. Instead, we want to find a balance, a suitable location where the advantages outweigh the downsides. Our community needs to be involved in this decision-making process. To ensure our beloved home's protection, we implore the decision-makers to reject planning applications for turbines in excess of 150m and less than 2km from homes.
